It's quite interesting. Much of the system is still a mystery, as tourists can only visit a couple of stations with their Minders. There's also rumors of a secret government subway, but no evidence of such has been produced.

There's a government subway in Washington at the Capitol used for Congress members, but it's not so secret. I don't doubt that NK may have something like it - but they like keeping things on the down-low.

Yes, I have seen pictures of the Capitol subway (but have not ridden it yet), which of course is different and separate from the Washington Metrorail.

The Pongyang metro bought far more used subway cars from Berlin than would be normally used in service for Pongyang. That information alone led to suspicions that the metro extends further than what has been made public. I agree with you that there may be truth to this story.
