Pyongyang Traffic Girl 1979 - you've come a long way, baby.

This is a trafficgirl from 1979

She doesn't even have a traffic circle to stand in.

Wow, great pic....didn't know they even existed back then.

It looks like the TGs today are still using some of the batons from the 70's. I guess it's something that's passed from one generation of TGs to another.

30 years later ...............

The present trafficgirls have a much better look than they did in 1979. Also they were probably less disciplined with their traffic commands back then. And there had to be even less traffic ... look at that 1979 picture, on that wide street all the way back and up the hill, no cars.... the only vehicles in sight appear to be parked vans or something.

They've been doing this for 30 years? No wonder they use those metal plates, or holes would be worn into the pavement. The present TGs look much better than those frumpy older ones.

That 1979 one looks like she's about to lead a marching band. The modern ones are a lot better.

Actually, it looks like there was more traffic back in 1979! In current picture, there's not a car, truck or bus in sight!

Scarce in both pictures, although I was just assuming that NK was poorer in the 70s thus less traffic. But maybe you're right, they could've gone backwards economically since then.
